Elie Gardner is a multimedia journalist and educator based in Lima, Peru. In January 2011 she co-founded multimedia collective Inti Media, whose work focuses on telling stories related to social inclusion and the environment. In Peru she has collaborated with several NGOs, contributed to National Geographic Traveler and reported for Nature.
Prior to living in Peru, she worked as a staff photographer and online photo editor at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. While there she edited several multimedia projects and trained the staff in multimedia storytelling and editing. Reporting for Duty earned national recognition, including a regional Emmy award. In 2009 she was part of a team that was recognized as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Reporting for coverage of the Kirkwood City Hall shootings.
Elie has also taught courses in multimedia production and photojournalism for Webster University and National Geographic Student Expeditions in various locations in the United States, Ecuador and the United Kingdom.
A native of Carrington, North Dakota, Elie graduated with honors from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism.
