Oscar Durand is a visual journalist whose work focuses on social and environmental issues in Latin America.
His interest in visual storytelling began while he was studying engineering in Lima, Perú at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Upon graduation, Oscar moved to the United States where he launched his freelance career. Oscar’s work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times, Catholic News Service, GlobalPost, PRI’s The World, Io Donna, Dallas Morning News, among others. He also contributes to non-governmental organizations working in South America.
Oscar returned to his native country Perú in 2010, where he co-founded multimedia collective Inti-Media with his wife, photojournalist Elie Gardner. Durand is a graduate of the photojournalism program at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
